Samsung Galaxy”A series” smartphones, the Galaxy A5 and A7 both 2016 variants have started receiving the latest Android 7 Nougat update in India. This update makes the Galaxy A5 and A7 the first non-flagship smartphones to get the Android 7.0 Nougat update from Samsung. With the latest OS update for the two devices, the UI is similar to the one on Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. With the update, there will be the following new features in the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7:
- Notification feature and Quick settings button
- Improved usability of the Multi window
- Improved settings menu and addition of the Samsung pass feature
- Efficient space for installation of downloaded apps, improved speed of system upgrade and app installation
You get an option to install the update between 2 AM and 5 AM if you opt for the Install overnight option, this will make sure that you do not disturb your daily usage as the update is automatically installed when you are asleep. Make sure that you keep you device charged up and there is sufficient battery to last through the update process.
The Android 7.0 OS update for Galaxy A5 is 985.58 MB in size and for Galaxy A7 it is 970 MB in size. It is better to install the update with good internet speeds and a stable connection. We have seen considerable improvement in the overall UI smoothness and although early to comment on, but battery life also seems to be better as for now. We will be updating after a couple of days of usage about the change in battery life.
If you are from India and own a Galaxy A5 or Galaxy A7 make sure that you check for the latest OS update if you have not yet received the OTA update by going to Settings >> About Device and Software. The software update is said to roll out in phases, if you have not yet received the update keep checking for it regularly.
