How to try Google Assistant on your Android devices running Marshmallow and Nougat OS

Last week we have seen Google announce that Google Assistant feature will be rolling out to Android devices running on Android Marshmallow and Nougat OS. The personal assistant feature which was revealed in Google Pixel smartphone has made its way to some other smartphones as well like the LG G6, Moto G5, Moto G5 Plus coming with the feature out of the box. Google has mentioned that there are some criteria which have to be fulfilled for your Android device to get Google assistant –

All this looks good as many smartphones are running on Marshmallow and Nougat but it is not exactly sure when Google will be rolling out the update to the devices. Google has not revealed anything about when the feature will be rolling out to the smartphones. So we cannot give you the details about the exact time the update will be coming to your device but with the steps mentioned below, you can be sure that you will be getting the update before the final version is rolled out.

How to Join the Google Play Services beta:

By joining Google Play Beta you will not be getting the update immediately but the beta version of Google Assistant which is usually released before the final version is launched will be made available to your device as you have enrolled for Beta. You do not have to worry about the Google assistant Beta version creating any problems to your device as it has been running on Google Pixel from quite some time and Google might have fixed the various bugs which were seen.

  • Go to this link – Google Play Services (Become a Tester)
  • Tap on “Become a Tester” button (make sure that you are logged in with the Gmail account in which all your apps are present)
  • Now head over to Google Play Store App and tap on My Apps
  • From the list of Play Services, tap on the Beta tab and manually start the Play Services update
  • Make sure that Google App is updated to the latest version and all other apps are updated as well

All you have to do now is wait, make sure that you keep checking if the Google App is updated and the new Assistant feature is available for your device. To check if Google assistant is installed on your device you have to “hold the home button down for a few seconds” and the google assistant will be activated of installed.
