With the latest Instagram update (124.0) on iPhone many users have complained that the option of changing “Live photos into Boomerangs in stories” is not available after updating to the latest version. There has not been any official statement whether Instagram has removed in intentionally or it is an error or bug which might be fixed with a later update. With many users requesting if there is a work around for this
To share an boomerang the user has to share a live photo and hold it down to change it into a boomerang, which has not been happening from a couple of days with many users complaining about the same on Twitter. Now when you post a Live Photo to your Instagram story it is being posted as a still image.
How to Post Live Photo to Boomerang on Instagram Story:
Make sure that your iPhone is running on iOS 13 or later. Now follow the steps mentioned below to fix the problem.
Go to Albums and then under Media Types tap on Live Photos
Open Live Photo in the Photos App
Tap on Share button (box with an up arrow) seen on the bottom left of the screen
Now in the list that appears, scroll to the bottom of the list and tap on “Save as Video“
Now the Live photo will be converted into a Video
Go to the Videos Album and you can see the converted file under Recents
Launch Instagram and swipe Right on the screen to post a new Story
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and select “Last 24 hours” under the drop down in the top left corner
Now select Videos, select the video which you have converted and Edit as you wish and share the story.
Make sure that you mute the Audio which will be in the converted file if you wish to. With this option the converted live photo can also be shared as a normal post on Instagram which is not possible otherwise. Do let us know if you have any other workarounds to this Error, we hope that the Error will be fixed shortly by Instagram through an update.
