The most used Instant messaging service, WhatsApp has not just restricted itself to messages but has become a multi functional application where people are making Video calls, Audio calls, sharing photos, videos etc, this has increased the importance of keeping your account private from prying eyes. Be it at office or at home you would like to keep others away from looking into your WhatsApp account and going through your chat’s shares etc. Here is a feature which is available in Apple iPhone devices which lets you lock your WhatsApp application using the Touch ID or Face ID feature.
You can follow the steps mentioned below to activate Face ID or Touch ID lock to launch WhatsApp in your iPhone or iPad. This feature does not let you open the app without the use of Touch ID or ace ID but lets you reply to messages from notifications and also allows you to answer calls even when the app is locked.
Launch WhatsApp on your iPhone or iPad
Now tap on Settings on the bottom right of the display -> Go to Account -> then tap on Privacy
Here tap on the Screen Lock option at the bottom of the display
Here you will see the options – Require Face ID and Require Touch ID (In phones with Home button having fingerprint sensor)
Tap on the Toggle switch to turn on the option which you would like to have and then you can set the time within which the App will be locked – Immediately, After 1 min, 15 mins or after 1 hour.
Once activated users need to use the Face ID feature or Touch ID to unlock the App, you can also unlock the app using your iPhone Password. WhatsApp version 2.19.20 and later has rolled out this feature to iPhone users available in App Store.
