Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro gets Android 8.1 Oreo MIUI 9.5.11.0 update with Dual 4G VoLTE support and gesture controls

Xiaomi has started rolling out their latest OS update – MIUI 9.5 with Oreo 8.1 OS for their hugely popular Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphone. The update which was scheduled for March has been postponed couple of times and has finally made it to the devices in May. The update was spotted and reported on Mi community with many users reporting to have received MIUI 9.5.6.0 update for their Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphone and Android Oreo 8.1 March Security patch.

The earlier update was taken back as it was reportedly released accidentally and it sure was as many users complained of devices starting to lag after updating their devices. So after the issue, Xiaomi started rolling out MIUI 9.5.11.0.OEIMIFA update for Redmi Note 5 Pro users who updated their devices to MIUI 9.5.6.0. It comes with bug fixes and improves the stability of the device. It also comes with April security patch update.

The major change is the inclusion of Dual 4G VoLTE option which was working for many users, we are yet to test it, on the contrary, some users mentioned that their devices were not supporting Dual 4G VoLTE even after the update.

If you are looking for the MIUI 9.5.11.0 update on your Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphone, remember that it is available only for users who has updated their smartphone to MIUI 9.5.6.0 (if you have not, you can manually flash MIUI 9.5.6.0, update recovery ROM using updater method. Once you have flashed MIUI 9.5.6.0, you will receive the MIUI 9.5.11.0 UI update via OTA.

Now that Xiaomi has discontinued development on MIUI 9 and started working on MIUI 10 to be launched in Mi 8 smartphone on 31st May, we can expect this to be the last major update for MIUI 9.
