Xiaomi has launched their latest budget or entry level smartphone, the Redmi 5A in India which sports a 5-inch HD resolution display having the same design as that its predecessor the Redmi 4A. It is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor with Adreno 308 GPU. The specifications of the device are almost similar to its predecessor with all aspects being the same like – Display, processor, RAM and storage options along with the rear camera.
The minor changes are seen in the front facing camera which is now a5MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture and the Redmi 5A now runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat OS out of the box with the latest MIUI 9 on top. The battery in the Redmi 5A is 3000 mAh in comparison to the 3120mAh battery in the Redmi 4A.

There is no Fingerprint sensor in the Redmi 5A, it comes with Dual SIM Hybrid option with the first SIM supporting 4G VoLTE, there is an Infrared sensor on the top of the device to make it useful as a Remote. It comes with unibody metal design with metal like matter finish.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5A is priced at Rs. 4,999 for the 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage variant ( the price will be increased to Rs. 5,999 after 5 million units) while the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 6,999. The Xiaomi Redmi 5A will be available exclusively on Flipkart as well as Mi.com online and Mi Home Stores and partner stores starting from December 7th.
