Xiaomi has launched another device named Redmi 2 which is the successor of Redmi 1s. This device was launched in China at a very competitive price of 699 Yuan which we can say is approximately $115 or Rs. 8,000. The device is named as Hongmi 2 for the Chinese market.
The Xiaomi Redmi 2 comes with a 4.7 inch IPS Display with HD resolution 1280 x 720 pixels and 312 ppi pixel density which is pretty good for the price range at which it is being launched at. The device is 9.4mm thick and weighs about 133 grams. The device runs on running MiUi 6 based on Android 4.4.4. The Redmi 2 is powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 64 bit 410 quad core processor (Cortex A53) with Adreno 306 GPU and it supports 4G. The processor is supported by 1GB RAM,8GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB with help of external card support.
The Redmi 2 comes with a 8MP rear or primary camera and a 2MP front facing camera. The device is available in 5 colors White, Dark gray, Bright Yellow, Light Green and Pink. Other key features in smartphones like 4G, 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth are present in the device. The device is powered by a Samsung Li-Po 2200 mAh battery which is said to give 24hrs of moderate usage on a full charge.
The device was earlier listed on TEENA where the features and specifications shown are similar to the one which is launched. The registrations for the device are already started and the launch date of the device is said to be January 9th 2015 which is limited to China only. the launch of the device in rest of the world and India is not yet known.
Xiaomi is said to release other devices as well in 2015 and the start to the year with this device is great news for Xiaomi fans. So lets see if the successors of Redmi Note is also announced shortly.
