Android One Platform had kicked off in India with the launch of three devices which were priced similarly having similar features and now a new device is launched from Spice named the Spice Dream Uno 498H is an elder sibling to the Spice Dream Uno which was launched in the first batch of Android One devices. This devices is having a H in its name because it is a truly Hindi smartphone which will let users have a Hindi keyboard along with letting them use Hindi Apps and Hindi voice inputs.
The device comes with Android 4.4.4 Kitkat preinstalled and is set to get regular software updates from Google for 2 years. It comes with a 4.5 inch display having 854 x 480 pixels resolution with a thickness of 9.15mm. The device is powered by a 1.3 GHz Mediatek Quad core processor having Mali 400 GPU. It is further supported by 1GB of RAM and 4GB on internal storage which can be expanded upto 32GB using mincroSD card support.
The device comes with a 5MP Rear camera having Auto focus and LED flash support, it also has a 2MP front facing camera which can be used in making video calls. All the other basic features like 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS are present. The device is powered by a 1700mAh battery which is quite low looking at what are being offered by other companies.
The device is being sold both Offline and Online at a price of Rs, 7,499 which surely is quite high for the features which are being offered. The only plus point is that it has complete Hindi support and can be useful in rural areas and looking at the fact that Android One was introduced to make Smartphone affordable in rural areas it is a good device but the price at which it is being offered does not make it a great deal. If the pricing can be decreased it can be considered as a good competitive device in India.
