Samsung’s first Tizen powered smartphone Z1 announced at Rs. 6,000

Samsung was working on their own OS which was named as Tizen OS and the company was working on Tizen OS based devices in all ranges from Budget range to mid level smartphones. Samsung is now out with a entry level smartphone running on Tizen OS which was once captured by Nokia and Samsung and later Samsung was the leader in the budget segment but after the entry of devices like the Moto E, Xiaomi, Asus and other Chinese devices Samsung has lost a hold in this segment completely.
Samsung Z 1 with Tizen OS in January
With this device named as the Samsung Z 1 Samsung is trying to get back its hold in the budget category with giving out some decent specifications. The Samsung Z1 comes with a 4 inch PLS LCD WVGA display with a resolution of 800 x 400 pixels. The device is capable of playing 720p of HD videos with this resolution. The device runs on a 1.2 GHz dual core processor supported by 768 MB of RAM along with 4 GB internal storage which can be further expanded to 32 GB using microSD card support.

In the Camera aspect the device is a letdown compared to the competition, it comes with a 3MP rear or primary camera with LED flash and a VGA rear facing camera. The device is given Auto Selfie mode and a low light photography mode, I wonder what difference it will make to take a selfie with a VGA camera and low light photography with a 3MP primary camera seems pretty dumb.

The device is powered by a 1500mAh battery having a battery saver mode option. This device runs on Tizen OS which is Samsung’s own OS with UC powered swift and light browser and maps with full offline support comes out of the box. All the other basic features like 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth are present in the device. The device being brought to India at a price of Rs. 6,000 and will be available for purchase in local stores form Jan 18th.

For Aircel and Reliance customers the Samsung Z 1 comes with 500MB of free 3G data Free along with the device. The design of the device is typically Samsung but the features of the device are not upto the mark to compete with the other devices in the same price range, the battery of 1500mAh and the camera with 3MP rear and front VGA is not that great to take on the competition. Lets wati and see how the device fares in the market after its launch.
