OnePlus 6T with 6.42-inch FHD+ AMOLED display and in-display Fingerprint sensor announced starting at $549

OnePlus has just announced their year-end Flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 6T which is the improved successor to the OnePlus 6 launched earlier this year. The OnePlus 6T comes with a 6.41-inch Optic AMOLED display with a teardrop shaped notch at the top as compared to the rectangular bar in the OnePlus 6. The notch houses the front-facing camera, ambient, distance and RGB sensor in it, the speaker is positioned above the notch. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6.

The OnePlus 6T is powered with the same Snapdragon 845 chipset with Adreno 630 GPU, the device now starts with 6GB RAM and 128GB Storage along with 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB variants, the base variant of 6GB and 64GB storage has been discontinued. The OnePlus 6T is water-resistant but the company did not reveal any IP ratings. It runs on Android 9.0 Pie with OxygenOS 9.0 on top and supports all the features like screen gestures, smart boost technology to improve app start speeds.

The OnePlus 6T comes with the same camera set up as its predecessor, 16-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX519 sensor, f/1.7 aperture, OIS as well as EIS, 20-megapixel secondary camera with Sony IMX376K sensor and f/1.7 aperture ad a 16-megapixel Sony IMX 371 sensor. One improvement is the inclusion of a Nightscape mode which is said to recognize night scenes and deliver more clarity in images and decrease noise, this feature is said to be sent to OP6 as well via an update.

It sports an in-display Fingerprint sensor which is said to unlock the phone in just 0.34 seconds along with a face unlock feature to unlock in 0.4 seconds.  The 3.5mm audio jack has been removed. It comes with a bigger 3700 mAh battery which supports OnePlus Dash Charge (5V, 4A) fast charging.

  • 8GB RAM with 128GB storage version costs $579 and Rs. 41,999 in India
  • 8GB RAM with 256GB storage version costs $629 and Rs. 45,999 in India

The device will be available exclusively on starting from November 1st.
