NVIDIA Shield tablet starts receiving Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update

NVIDIA has started rolling out the latest Android OS – Marshmallow 6.0.1 to their original Shield Tablet after rolling out the update to their latest Nvidia Shield Tablet K1 a month ago. The update is the same one which the Shield Tablet K1 had received last month and the OTA update has been sent out to devices across the world.

With the latest Android 6.0.1 update support for Vulcan API is available and it brings in better access to graphics hardware for gaming. Some changes which the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow brings with this update are the Repositioning of the Navigation button in landscape mode and Emojis have been updated. Now the Camera App can be launched by Double tap of the power button. A new option in Alarm – Do Not Disturb Until Next Alarm has been added.

Wi-Fi connectivity improvement when waking up from sleep has been added, the issue faced while moving apps from SD card has been fixed along with the Gamepad Mapper issues. Lasso capture icons in landscape mode has been re-positioned. With the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update the Security Patch Level March 1, 2016 is available.

Problem with the Compass functionality has been fixed, the very useful Android Doze mode and Additional power optimizations support has been added. Memory compression enhancement is seen. Many users have started getting the update as a notification on their Shield tablet, if you have not received it you can check manually by going to Settings -> About -> Check for Updates.
