Motorola has launched their latest mid-range smartphones, the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus, the more exiting of the two is the Moto G5 Plus with some added features absent in its younger sibling, the Moto G5. If you are looking to purchase the Moto G5 Plus which will be launched in a couple of months worldwide depending on the location we will be giving you a detailed description of how the Moto G5 Plus is different of better than the Moto G4 Plus, its predecessor.
On first look the Moto G5 Plus looks more premium and it transfers that to the feel as well thanks to the metal build of G5 Plus. The Moto G5 Plus is overall smaller and slimmer when compared to the G4 Plus – G5 Plus is 7.7mm in thickness in comparison to G4 Plus which is 9.8mm. Both devices weigh the same at 155grams. Both devices have the fingerprint sensor in the Home button located on the front of the device, the G5 Plus now has a prominent (good looking) rectangular home button as compared to the small square home button in the G4 Plus. The camera set up is round and similar to its flagship series which looks much better.. Overall the Moto G5 Plus is a much better looking and premium feeling device when compared to its predecessor.
The Moto G5 Plus has a smaller 5.2-inch FullHD display with higher 423ppi when compared to the 5.5-inch FullHD display with 401ppi pixel density in the G4 Plus . Both devices come with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Both devices look the same in terms of sharpness and contrast. Apart from the display size both devices are similar.
On Paper the Moto G5 Plus comes with an improved chipset – Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with 4GB RAM with 32GB/64GB internal storage while its predecessor the Moto G4 Plus sports a Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor with 2GB/4GB RAM options with 16GB and 64GB storage variants available. Not just on paper but in real the Moto G5 Plus performed better for the time which we had used it. We will be updating after comprehensive testing of the device.
Camera comparison between Moto G5 Plus vs G4 Plus:
Moto G5 Plus sports a 12MP rear camer a with Dual Autofocus Pixels having aperture of f/1.7 and 1.4um pixels and colour-balancing dual-LED flash wand a 5MP front facing camera. The Moto G4 Plus on the othe hand has a 16MP rear camera with PDAF, laser autofocus and f/2.0 aperture along with a 5MP front facing camera. On paper the Moto G5 Plus inspite of the lower pixel count is the better of the two and Motorola claims that it is the “most advanced in class” camera.
The Moto G5 Plus will be coming with Android 7.0 Nougat OS out of the box while the Moto G4 Plus was launched with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out of the box.
The Moto G5 Plus comes with the same 3000mAh capacity battery as the G4 Plus and the G5 Plus comes with Motorola’s TurboPower fast charge technology.

The Moto G4 Plus was priced at Rs. 12,499 and the Moto G5 Plus is priced around Rs. 15,000 and will be launched in March in India.
