Motorola has rolled out an OTA (Over-the-air) update for their Moto X Play smartphone (Snapdragon 615) variant in India which now brings support for Reliance Jio VoLTE. The recent update for the device was back in March when the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update was rolled out just a few months after the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update was rolled out.
The new features included after the update are – VoLTE support for Reliance Jio’s SIM cards, Android Security update and Stability improvements. You will be getting the Android security patch level – May 1, 2016 and Android version will be 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
Motorola’s latest two smartphones to hit the market, the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus come with VoLTE support built-in out of the box. With the latest wave of marketing by Reliance and Jio network 4G VoLTE has taken off in a huge way in India with the telecom operators feeling the heat from Jio with their aggressive marketing.
For the Moto X Play you will get the Reliance Jio VoLTE update with the update v24.61.70 which is a pretty small 19MB file. You will be receiving the update shortly if you have not yet received it as the update will be released in batches. In case you do not want to wait for the update, you can manually flash it by downloading the ZIP file from here – XDA Forums.
