Reliance Jio has been launched officially yesterday in the company’s Annual General Meeting held in Mumbai, Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman and MD of Reliance Industries officially launched the Network and their services which have been creating ripples in the Telecom scene from a couple of months now. The official prepaid Tariffs have also been revealed and they are quite attractive.
With a host of offerings from Reliance Jio like amazing and never seen before data prices of Rs. 50/GB 4G data and the company is offering free voice and video calls, SMS, WiFi etc until December 31st 2106 starting from September 5th calling it the “Free Welcome Offer”. Reliance is going to make it easy to get a new SIM by asking the users to provide Aadhar card, photo, and their thumb impression which will help in activating the SIM in 5 mins. But if you are someone looking to MNP or port your existing number to Reliance Jio follow the below-mentioned steps to port from any network like Airtel, Idea, Vodafone, Uninor, BSNL, Docomo, Aircel to Reliance Jio.
Steps to Port number from any Network to Reliance Jio:
From your existing network and number, you need to send an SMS by Typing “PORT Mobile Number” to 1900. ( You will be charged according to your existing network provider)
You will be receiving an SMS with the UPC or Unique Port Code. This code will be used to switch to a new operator with the present mobile number. Make a note that this UPC is valid only for 15 days from the date of generation.
With the number in hand you need to head to the nearest Reliance Digital/ Xpress Mini or authorised Jio store and fill in the customer application form regarding switching to JIO using MNP service with the UPC number which was generated earlier.
You need to carry Xerox and Original of all the documents like proof of address and proof of identity which can be – Aadhar Card, Voter I.d or Passport along with a passport size photograph.
After all the formalities are completed a new SIM card will be issued to you that will have the same number as your current one.
Note: It might take 5 days for your number to be ported to the Reliance Jio Network as per telecom regulation will take 5 days to activate the SIM card in case of MNP.
