JioPhone 2 with Bigger 2.4-inch Display, QWERTY keypad launched at Rs. 2999

Reliance Jio has disrupted the telecom market with their Jio 4G connection as well with the feature phone JioPhone which was a huge success and made it the highest selling feature phone in India last year. Reliance JioPhone was effectively offered free of cost to customers who have taken the Jio 4G connection and paid for the connectivity. Reliance have launched their latest offering, the JioPhone 2 which comes with some upgrades from their previous generation model like – Bigger display size, Dual SIM card support, QWERTY keyboard and in the presentation it is mentioned that WhatsApp will be added to the JioPhone 2 along with some other Social networking apps like Facebook and Youtube.

Coming to the features of the new JioPhone 2, it sports a larger 2.4-inch QVGA display and comes with QWERTY keyboard making it larger in size as compared to its predecessor. The JioPhone 2 comes with Dual SIM functionality which lets users use existing Jio SIM cards in the device which was not possible in the earlier variant. The device is powered by a 2000mAh battery and it comes with 512MB of RAM along with 4GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB using microSD card.

The JioPhone 2 supports connectivity features like WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC along with VoLTE and VoWiFi. The device runs on Kai OS similar to the JioPhone launched last year. Apart from the Display size, QWERTY keyboard and Dual SIM card slots, all other specifications are similar to its predecessor.

The JioPhone 2 is priced at Rs. 2,999 and will be available from August 15th, 2018 (Independence Day) in Jio retail outlets across the country. Existing JioPhone users can upgrade to the new JioPhone 2 using the “Monsoon dhamaka offer” by paying just Rs. 501, more details about this offer will be updated once we get the complete details.
