How to upload 4K resolution photos in Twitter from Android or iOS smartphones

Twitter recently has introduced the option where it is allowing users to upload 4K resolution photos in Twitter. One negative aspect of this feature is that it is rolled out only for the Desktop version but not available for the Android or iOS. So, if you are someone who doesn’t have a Desktop or PC in access at the moment but want to upload a 4K resolution image in twitter you can follow the steps mentioned below to upload a 4K resolution image from your smartphone.

In case you are trying to upload a 4K resolution photo using Twitter App for iPhone or Android the resolution will be limited to 2048×2048 pixels. The resolution for the 4K image uploaded from the web version is set at 4096×4096. The problem with Social Networking sites like FB, WhatsApp, Instagram etc is that Resolution of an image is automatically compressed to help in faster loading of the site, but this drastically reduces the clarity of an image and the need for showcasing your talent is greatly hampered.

What does 4K Resolution mean – 3840 × 2160 (4K UHD) is the dominant 4K standard, in the movie projection industry a resolution of 4096 × 2160 (DCI 4K) is used.

How to Upload 4K resolution photos in Twitter from smartphone:

Android Smartphone:

  • Launch Google Chrome browser in your Android smartphone and go to Twitter.com
  • Tap the “Compose Tweet” button and then tap on the “Add Photo icon
  • Now tap on the Files option in the Choose an Action box
  • From the Left-hand side List tap on “Gallery” and choose any Album from which you want to upload the image
  • Now select the image and upload the Image

iPhone and iPad:

  • Open Safari Browser and go to Twitter.com
  • Tap on the AA icon in the left of the address bar to open the drop-down menu. In the drop-down menu tap on “Request Desktop Website
  • If you are using chrome browser on iOS tap on the 3-horizontal dots at the bottom right corner and then select “Request Desktop Site“.
  • Now tap on the Tweet button, then tap the photo icon and select “Photo Library“. Select the album you want to upload the photo from or even upload images in the iCloud Drive or On My iPhone via Files app.
  • Here you can select one or multiple photos at once to upload
  • After selecting the photo, you will get the option to “Choose Image Size” and select “Actual Size” to upload a 4K resolution photo
  • Now tap on the “Upload” option in the top right corner of the screen to complete the process
