How to lock Apps using Fingerprint in OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 3

With smartphones becoming an integral part of our everyday life involving basic stuff to some important stuff like having our passwords, bank apps etc, it is very important to protect our vital data stored on our smartphones and there are many options passwords, pattern lock, pin lock and Fingerprint lock. But one thing which is worrying is that Fingerprint sensor locks the whole phone and unlocks it which make it difficult to protect select data or any particular App on your phone.

But for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users, there is an option available by default which lets the user lock individual apps on OnePlus 3 and OnePls 3T using your Fingerprint. This is a much safer option as compared to the Apps which are available to lock selective applications using a password, pin or pattern lock. So let us see how you can activate and set a Fingerprint lock to any specific App in your OnePlus 3 or OnePlus 3T such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Gallery, any Bank app, BHIM app etc in which all your vital information and data might be stored.

How to lock apps in OnePlus 3t or 3 using Fingerprint

Steps to Lock individual Apps with Fingerprint in OnePlus 3 / 3T:

  • Tap on the Settings icon
  • Scroll to the Security & Fingerprint option and tap on it
  • Under the Privacy options, you will see “App Locker”, tap on it and you will get the option to set an alternative option to unlock the app in case you do not want to use your fingerprint to unlock the App you can set other options like a pattern, pin or password.
  • Now you will get the list of Apps which are present on your smartphone
  • By default all the apps will not be selected, you need to tap on the slider present on the right of each app to activate App Lock using Fingerprint sensor in your OnePlus 3 or 3T

By locking apps such as your mail app, bank apps, gallery, WhatsApp etc we can be tension free when handing out your phone to anyone knowing that they cannot access any of your important data without your permission. The same implies when you loose your phone, even if the person who has stolen or found your phone is successful in unlocking your device cannot access your data as it is locked.
