Stock Andorid is available only on selected Devices like the Nexus but many like it for its plain and simple look without the little tweaks and additions done to Stock android by Phone companies like Samsung and Sony who try to put in their touch and look to it. So if you are the owner of an Android Smartphone and you want to get the Stock Android look on your Smartphone or Tablet here are some Apps which will let you get the Stock android look without Rooting your device.
Some of these apps are free and some paid so try the free one’s before going for the pad ones, you might get what you want in the free Apps itself. These apps let you change your Android into Stock android by changing the launchers, icon packs, keyboards, and other apps. Here we are going to list out the Apps which will customize your Home screen into stock android but the rest will be the same. For more changes like the keyboard, lock screen etc we will be writing another post about it.
Apps to get Stock Android Look on Android Phone or Tablet:
It is a Free App which can be downloaded from Google Play Store which will let you get the feel of Custom Stock Android in your Android Mobile or Tablet.
You will get the following features with Nova Launcher:
- Change the accent color of the launcher and Color Themes
- Apply ADW or Go launcher icon themes to all app icons
- Scrollable Dock (for Tablets and Phones)
- Transparency and we can choose the Scrolling style
- Cube and Cardstack type scrolling for free users
These are some of the features of the Free version of Nova Launcher to get Stock Android look on your device. You can get more additional features in the Paid version of Nova launcher called Nova Launcher Prime
Download and Install here: Nova Launcher for Android
This is a App which lets you modify your home screen and launcher to the maximum extent and still keeps your device running fast and smooth. It gives you features like – Pinch the screen to access screen previews (like Expose or HTC Sense). The Tab interface is amazing but the Transition effect is absent unlike the Nova Launcher. It has some good features like the folder, drawer and screen configuration options.
Some features in Apex Launcher:
- Customizable homescreen grid size and up to 9 homescreens
- Scrollable dock with up to 7 icons per page and up to 5 pages
- Infinite & elastic scrolling (homescreen, drawer and dock)
- Fancy transition effects (tablet, cube, etc.)
Some transition features are not up to the mark like in Nova Launcher but the Tab interface is really good. There are some bugs like the icons at places at the bottom are missing when seen in portrait mode. Some Apps do not have icons which makes it look really ugly showing Android robot icon for these apps.
This launcher gives you Full Stock Android Jelly Bean look and appearance. Screen and app draw transitions are silky smooth without a hint of lag, has more precise control than other launchers such as Apex and Nova. It is much friendly on the RAM compared to the other 2 launchers mentioned in the list.
Some Features which are provided in Holo Launcher:
- Custom Desktop Pages/Grid: Up to 9 desktop pages and 10 x 10 grid
- Custom Drawer Portrait/landscape Grid
- Scrollable Dock: Up to 7 icons per page and up to 3 pages
- Infinite Scrolling
- Gestures: Swipe up/down on desktop to launch apps quickly
The only problem which we found was that after installing the App and using it, Swift key was lagging and not so efficient when used without Holo Launcher, so if you can adjust with the Swift key problem this is the one for you to convert your device into a brand new one.
