This problem is arising after users have installed the latest MIUI6 ROM in their devices it is said that there is a bug which is not allowing the Facebook messenger app to auto start and open a chat head because of the security settings. You need to open the chat head by opening the app each time you receive a message.

Steps to Fix Facebook messenger chat head not opening in Xiami Mi phones:
Tap on Security App (which can be found in Xiaomi Mi devices with MIUI6)
On the bottom right of the screen you will find a Star icon named “Permissions” tap on it.
You will be taken to the Permissions page on the bottom of the page tap on permissions tab once again.
You will be getting a list of Apps installed in your device.
Scroll and tap on the Messenger App
Now from the list of options available scroll down and tap on the “Display pop-up window” this option will be off
Tap on it and then tap on “Aceept”
All you have to do is go to your Home page and Restart or Reboot your device and your problem will be fixed without much problems.
This is not a problem with the App or the OS but a security permissions issue which can be fixed by just turning on the app permission to the Facebook messenger app. This problem can be seen in many other devices as well where the app permissions are not given directly on installing the OS.
