How to Fix Laptop Camera not working in Windows 10

If your Integrated laptop web camera is not working in your Windows 10 running laptop there are multiple reasons due to which the problem might arise. Update Laptop Camera Driver:

This usually helps if you are facing a problem after doing a Software update to your Laptop.

Step 1: Right-click on Start

Step 2: Select Device Manager in the list or open Run box (Click Windows button plus R key and enter “devmgmt.msc” and press enter

Step 3: Click on DVD/CD-ROM drives and click on Cameras or Imaging devices under it

Step 4: Right-click on Integrated webcam driver or laptop camera

Step 5: Select Update Driver Software

Step 6: Now select – Search automatically for updated driver software, this will automatically search for the software to be installed or if you have drivers downloaded you can select Browse my computer for driver software

Step 7: Select “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer

Step 8: Select USB ‘Video device

Step 9: Click “Next” and follow the instructions given on the screen and then Restart the computer to complete the installation

Run Hardware Troubleshooter

Windows comes equipped with a troubleshooter that checks for any issues with the installed device and fixes it if it is in its control.

Step 1: Right Click on Start

Step 2: Select Control Panel

Step 3: Click on “View by” option in the top right corner

Step 4: Click on the drop-down arrow and select “Large icons

Step 5: Click Troubleshooting

Step 6: Click on View all option on the left side and click on Hardware and Devices

Step 7: Click on Next and then follow the instructions to run the troubleshooter which will detect any issues present

Reinstall Laptop Camera

This can help in fixing the problem in some cases as you will be Reinstalling the laptop camera from the start and any problem if any in its files will be fixed.

Step 1: Right-click on the Start button and click on Device Manager

Step 2: Click on Imaging devices

Step 3: Now Right-click on the laptop camera or integrated webcam option

Step 4: Now click Uninstall and then Restart your Laptop

Step 5: After Restart, the drivers will be automatically installed

If none of the steps work you need to check with a laptop repair technician for hardware related issues as it might be a problem with the camera sensor or any wires connecting it to the motherboard.
