How to Fix iMessage Not Working in iPhone

One of the major advantages of using an iPhone is iMessage which allows you to send free Messages to anyone from your iPhone. As with every other application, there have been problems with iMessage as well when it stops working on your iPhone which can be due to multiple reasons. If you are facing this problem, in some cases the App does not open and in some cases the App crashes when you try to send a message.

Method 1: Enable iMessage on iPhone:

This is one of the most common reasons for iMessage to not work on your iPhone, it is because either you or someone who used your phone might have accidentally turned OFF iMessages from the settings section. So it is best to first check if this is the problem and Turn it back ON by following the steps mentioned below.

Step 1: Tap on the Settings icon in your iPhone

Step 2: Under Settings scroll down to find Messages option and tap on it

Step 3: Here you can see the option iMessage and a toggle switch beside it

Step 4: Tap on the Toggle switch to turn iMessages On if it was not (it is on the toggle switch is green)

Note: Some times you will be seeing a message while you turn it on – “iMessage Activation – An error occurred during activation. Try again.

Method 2: Check if Send & Receive is Turned On:

Step 1: Tap on the Settings icon in your iPhone

Step 2: Under Settings scroll down to find Messages option and tap on it

Step 3: Scroll down to Send as SMS option and tap on it

Step 4: Here make sure that your Apple ID is listed under “You can be reached by iMessage at” section of iMessage Screen.
