Android Q is the latest OS from Google which comes with minor but useful changes helping users get the most of their smartphones. One of the most useful features are Gesture controls, which lets you do some functions using Gestures. Some users are complaining that they are not able to access or activate Gesture Controls and the option to turn it on is grayed out not allowing users to access the feature.
The Error is seen in users who have installed Third party launchers like Nova, Apex, Google Now etc. The Gesture control feature in Android Q seems to be turning off automatically when any third party launcher is activated. This seems to be a bug which was mentioned in Android forums and we expect the fix to be rolled in an update, but until then you can follow the steps mentioned below to fix it.
Uninstall 3rd Party Launcher:
The one and only way at the moment to fix the Gesture control not working problem in Android Q is to Uninstall the Third party launcher and go back to the Stock Launcher of your smartphone. Follow the steps below if you are not sure how to remove 3rd party launcher.
Go to Settings
Tap on Apps & Notifications option and you can uninstall the Launcher in the list of Apps
Or you can launch Play Store and Uninstall the App from here
Now that you have Uninstalled the Launcher, now go to the Gesture control option to activate it.
Go to Settings
Now scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap on System option
Tap on Gestures
Here you will be seeing the option – System Navigation, tap on it
Now you can see the Gesture Controls option and activate it
Gesture control is very useful and can make using your smartphone very easy thanks to the easy gestures.
