How to Fix or Solve Error 936 in Google Play Store

There is an Error which has started troubling Android users, the Error 936 which is being seen while downloading an App from Google Play Store. This Error is has been known to pop up even while updating the App for some users. The Error 936 is seen with a pop-up message popping up when you hit the Update or Install button in Google Play Store for some applications –

Can’t Download App – “App Name” can’t be downloaded. Try again and if the problem continues, get help troubleshooting. (Error code:963)

The Error 963 is seen due to the following reasons – App Cache or Installing the App on SD card or a new or recently updated Play Store. You can follow the steps mentioned below to fix “Error 963” in Google Play Store while updating or Installing applications.

How to Fix or Solve Error Code 963 in Google Play Store:

Method 1: Clear Google Play Store / App Data and Cache

  • Go to Settings and then tap on Apps or Applications
  • Now scroll through the List of All Apps and tap on Google Play Store
  • Tap on the buttons Clear Cache and Clear Data buttons

If you are getting the Error while updating a particular App –

  • Tap on the App in which you are facing the Error in the Apps list
  • Tap on the buttons Clear Cache and Clear Data buttons

Now try to Download / Install or Update the Application to see if you are facing the Error or the Error has been fixed. If the problem was with the Cache and Data in Google Play Store or the particular application your Error will be fixed, if not follow the next steps.

Method 2: Transfer App from microSD Card to Phone Storage by Unmounting SD card

Error 963 has been seen in some cases where the App was Installed on the microSD card, so the solution for this was to Unmount the microSD card and Install the App on to Phone Storage and remount the microSD card which fixed the Problem in most cases.

This method is useful when you are facing the Error while updating an already installed app on your Android device.

  • Go to Settings and tap on Storage in your smartphone
  • Now tap on the Option “Unmount SD Card
  • Tap on OK when you are asked for permission to do so
  • Now go to Google Play Store and Update the application which was causing the problem
  • Now Go back to Settings -> Storage -> and tap on Remount SD card option

Method 3: Downgrade Google Play Store to the previous Version:

In some cases, we have seen that whenever you have updated the Google Play Store to the latest version, the Error 963 was seen either while updating or Installing applications. This might be due to the incompatibility of the App to the Play Store.

  • Go to Settings and Tap on Apps or Applications
  • Now Tap on Google Play Store App from the list of Apps
  • Tap on Uninstall Play Store Updates 
  • Now close the Application manager and go back to Google Play Store
  • Download or Update the Application in which you were facing the Error and in most cases, it should be fixed.
