How to Solve or Fix Error 905 in Google Play Store

When I was downloading Asphalt 8: Airborne from Google Play Store, Error 905 popped up when the download was half way through. The Error read as follows “Asphalt 8: Airborne could not be downloaded due to an error (905)”. The device which I was downloading the App was Galaxy K Zoom which is running on Android KitKat, a user mentioned that he faced the same issue on his device running on Android 5.0 Lollipop as well.

There are many such errors which are seen on Google Play Store like Error 495, Error 492, Error 941 etc which are mostly solved by clearing cache and data from Google Play Store App. This error was different and clearing cache did not help in my case at least even after multiple attempts. There are many apps which are getting this error while trying to be downloaded.

How to fix error 905 in google play store

When looking for answers there was a solution in forums.xda, the user asked to keep the screen or display on all through the download of the App which he mentioned helped in downloading the app without any error. Many users replied to find it helpful, but in my case it did not help so here is one solution which was useful for me.

Steps to Fix Error 905 in Google Play Store:

This step requires you to get your Google Play Store to previous version by following these simple steps.

  • From your device Home screen, go to Settings
  • Now from the list tap on Applications
  • Go to Applications Manager or Manage Applications depending on your OS version
  • Tap on All tab and from the list of Apps tap on Google Play Store
  • Tap on Uninstall Updates
  • In case, yours is a new phone or tablet you have to tap on Clear Cache and Clear Data as there will be no previous version installed on the new device

This will automatically take your Google Play Store to the previous version and after this you can try to download the application once again, which will be fixed and the app will be downloaded without the Error 905 popping up. Do not worry about the older version of the Google Play Store as once the download of the app is completed go to Google Play Store App the same way as mentioned above and tap on Update this time. It will automatically get updated to the newer version.

Do let me know if your app installation went smoothly after this and if you have any new tricks which have helped you fix the Error 905, share with us so we can add it to the post to help other users as well.
