How to Fix or Solve “Error 506” – Cant Download App in Google Play Store
Recently encountered an Error while downloading an App from Google Play Store, where the Error message read like – “Can’t download app – Error Code -506“. This Error has been commonly seen in situations where the Application has been Installed once and uninstalled and tried to install again.
What is the cause of Error 506?
It is usually seen while installing applications which you have already installed the application previously and are trying to install the app one again in your Android smartphone.
The Error 506 is seen when any residual file from the previously installed application from Google play Store is present in the device memory, when the same application is installed once again Error 506 appears. To Fix this Error you need to clear all the residual files of the application from your smartphone.
Install any App or File cleaning Application to clear residual files:
This is one of the most useful method to fix the Error 506. To fix this you need to install an Application which clears the residual files.
- Go to Google Play Store and install – APPS2SD
- Now launch the application
- From the menu, tap on the Clear all broken apps option and you will be done
- Try installing the App again from Google play store to see if the Error is fixed.
Clear Cache and Data from Google Play Store and Google Play Services:
You need to clear the cache and data from Google Play Store and Google Play Services, this helps in removing or clearing any residual or left over files from previously installed applications.
- Tap on Settings
- Go to Apps or Application Manager
- Now tap on Google Play Store
- Here tap on Clear Cache and Clear Data
You need to do the same and follow the same steps by tapping on Google Play Services from the Apps list and tap on Clear Cache and Data.
Unmount SD Card:
This is a simple method which is easy to do and clears the data which is causing the problem.
Change the Storage or Install Location:
Go to Settings and then tap on “Storage”
Here tap on the last option “Preferred install location”
From the pop-up box you will be seeing three options – Internal storage, SD card and Let the System decide – tap on the “Let the system decide” option
Go to Google Play Store and check if the application is getting installed or not.
