How to fix Closed gallery, no required permission Error in Xiaomi or any Android devices

There have been many queries about an Error – “Closed Gallery, no required permissions” which is seen when the user tries to open the Gallery application in any Android or Xiaomi smartphone. After any update be it a minor or major one, when you open the Gallery app you get a notification from system asking you to grant permission for opening the app, if this is denied the error is seen whenever you try to open the gallery application. the devices in which this error was seen are – Redmi 1S, Redmi 2 or Prime, Redmi 3S or Prime, Redmi note 3, Redmi note 4G, Mi 2, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi 4i, Mi 5, Mi 5s plus, Mi 6 and Mi Max / Max 2.

How to fix Closed Gallery, no required permission error in Android devices:

As the Error is due to lack of permission to open the application, it can be fixed by simply changing the permission settings for launching the Gallery App on your Android or Xiaomi smartphone. Follow the below steps to change permission settings to fix Gallery permission issue on Android smartphones.

Method 1:

  • Go to Settings and search for Applications and tap on it
  • Tap on Installed Apps
  • Now from the list of apps, tap on Gallery
  • Now tap on Permission Manager
  • Here you need to grant all the permissions

The same can be done from the security Application by following the below-mentioned steps.

Go to Settings -> Applications -> tap on the Security App -> go to permissions -> from the list of apps select Gallery and grant permissions for the application.

Close the gallery app and open it again to check if the fix has worked.

Method 2:

  • Go to Settings and search for Applications and tap on it
  • Tap on Installed Apps
  • Now from the list of apps, tap on Gallery
  • Tap on Clear Data and then tap on Clear Cache
  • Now tap on the Force close the Gallery App
  • Tap on the home screen and now try to tap on the Gallery application to launch it
  • You are seeing a pop-up window asking for permission
  • Tap on Allow

With this method, you are clearing all the previous permissions given to System regarding the Gallery App and you are freshly issuing permissions to launch the application.
