Windows 10 has been launched by Microsoft and the company is stressing hard to being the latest OS to all the Windows systems all over the world through a free update from Windows 7, Windows 8.1 etc. The Windows 10 upgrade brings many new features along with having many hidden features which can be accessed by doing a little tweaking.
One such feature is “Dark Mode” which installs a Dark theme all across your OS even across all the Apps etc. This feature is not directly available in App settings and needs to be changed by editing the registry entries. With Dark mode, it will be easier on the eyes at night and the strain on your eyes while using your Windows 10 running Laptop or PC will be decreased.
How to Enable Dark Mode in Windows 10:
Note: Before you go ahead with the below mentioned steps, make sure to create a System restore point first and then start with the process as we will be manipulating the registry.
1 You have to open or launch “Run” which can be accessed by pressing “Windows Key + R” simultaneously. Once the Run box has opened type “regedit” in it and hit “Enter“.
2 You have to navigate to the “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsCurrentVersion\Themes\Personalize” by navigating through the options in the left pane.
3 Once the Personalize option is opened you have to Right click on the Right side box anywhere in the empty area.
4 From the options seen in the pop up box Go to “New -> DWORD(32-bit) Value”. A new entry will be added in the Registry.
5 Name the new Registry as “AppsUseLightTheme” which will activate the Dark Theme in your Windows 10
6 After doing this you need to close Registry and reboot the system to apply the changes.
After you have activated Dark Theme it is useful while using the Laptop or PC at night or in low light conditions to decrease the strain on your eyes. If you want to Disable Dark Mode in Windows 10 follow the steps mentioned below.

- You need to navigate to the same registry which you accessed while activating the Dark Theme – “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsCurrentVersion\Themes\Personalize”
