There is a new option in MIUI 8 which lets you do that exactly, it is not just a screenshot while shooting the video but you get the option to capture a proper photo or picture while recording the video.

Steps to capture image while recording Video in Xiaomi smartphones running MIUI 8:
It is a very easy process to activate to option to capture images while recording video in MIUI 8, in some devices the feature is activated automatically and if your device does not have it activated, follow these steps to activate the feature on your Xiaomi smartphone.
Go to Settings
Now tap on “System Apps” which is under “App Settings” in the options
From the list of Apps tap on “Camera”
Here you will find the option – “Image Capture while Recording” option
The toggle switch on the right will be turned off, you need to tap on it to turn it On
Now you can go back to your Home screen and turn on the camera and start Video Recording, you will be seeing a capture icon on the right of the Video recording button.
Tap on it whenever you need to capture an image while recording a video which will be saved in gallery as a photo.
This is a very useful feature which can be useful in many instances of day to day life and keeping it activated always gives you an option to capture and image while recording a video as and when needed.
