Honor 8 starts receiving EMUI 5.0 based android 7.0 Nougat update in US

Huawei has started rolling out their latest EMUI 5.0 based Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Honor 8 smartphone in US. The Indian variant of the Honor 8 is also expected to receive the update shortly as it is available in the US. Honor USA has tweeted from their official twitter handle @Honor_USA – “EMUI  5.0 is coming to Honor 8 from Feb 11th! Check out the new App Drawer on EMUI 5! Honor has included a lot of new features with the EMUI 5.0 apart from the features which will be added from Android 7.0 Nougat. The new features included in EMUI 5.0 are –

  • Notification shade
  • Recent Apps
  • App Twin

Apart from the features included in EMUI the device will also get new features like multiple windows functionality, option to customize quick controls, addition of optional app drawer. Honor has mentioned that these new features have been added with the help of US fans. Honor 8 comes with a dual camera set up having a 12MP primary camera with an 8MP secondary camera on the back. It comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD display with 423 ppi. The device was launched with EMUI 4.1 based on Android OS v6.0 Marshmallow. The device is powered by an Octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 950 SoC with 4GB of RAM and two variants of 32GB and 64GB internal storage space expandable up to 256GB using microSD card with the Hybrid second SIM slot.

With the Honor 8 launched in July last year in US and October 2016 in India the update has been a little delayed but with the availability of EMUI 5.0 based on Android 7.0 Nougat for US variant, we can expect some update from Honor India about the update in the coming days.
