Google has launched the Google Home and Google Home mini in India at a launch event in New Delhi, the Google Home Mini was introduced last year in October and has made its way into India with a price tag of Rs. 4,499 while the bigger Google Home which was launched couple of years back in October 2016 has been launched at a price of Rs. 9,999 in India.
Google Home is a Google Assistant powered speaker which features a touch interface on the top which enables users to control playback, adjust volume and lets you activate the Google Assistant. It also comes equipped with a mic which has far-field voice recognition and identifies different voices with the help of voice match technology, the mic is located on the top of the device. It also sports lights which change in color depending on the function. The top comes with mic mute button and power status as well.
It comes with a 2-inch driver and dual 2-inch passive radiators high excrusion speaker, the body of the Google Home is available only in White but comes with different coloured speaker material (default is Slate fabric). Google Home supports Android devices running Android 4.4 Kitkat or higher and iOS 9.1 or Higher in Apple. It can only be used as a Wi-Fi connected speaker and does not suppot Bluetooth connectivity. It supports Chromecast and users can stream movies, music, tv shoes etc from over 150 brands. In India Google Home will Support Google Play Music, Youtube, Netflix, Saavn and Gaana. Hindi supports is expected to come to Google Home later this year.
Google Home Mini comes with a speaker which is designed to give 3600-degree sound and has 40mm driver with mic to support far-field voice recognition. It comes with four lights on the top of the device which shows whether the spekaer is working, it turns to Orange when the mic is muted. The mic mute switch is located near the Micro-USB or power port on the back.
The Volume change and other control buttons are located on the left and right side of the Google Home Mini’s lights. The Google Home Mini is available with Fabric based design and sports a non-skid silicone base. It supports Android devices running Android 4.4 Kitkat or higher and iOS 9.1 or Higher in Apple. Unlike Google Home, the Home mini can be used through Wifi connectivity as well as a Bluetooth speaker with Bluetooth v4.1 support. It supports Chromecast and users can stream movies, tv shows, music onto TVs connected to the device. It supports over 100 smart home device from over 150 brands.
Google Home is priced at Rs. 9,999 while the Google Home Mini is priced at Rs. 4,499 and will be available exclusively on Flipkart online while in over 750 retail stores across the country like Reliance Digital, Croma, Bajaj Electronics, Sangeetha, Poorvika etc.
