Android One device which were launched by companies like Micromax releasing Canvas A1, Spice Dream UNO and Karbonn Sparkle V. These device were announced by the respective companies recently and by following the trend the devices are available on e-commerce websites.
Spice Dream UNO is being sold on Flipkart, and Karbonn tying up with Snapdeal and Micromax going with Amazon to launch their Android One devices. Micromax went out of stock after the launch of its Andorid One device the company announced that it had sold out 25000 pieces.
The devices in the Andorid One platform which are running on android Kitkat 4.4 are being manufactured by the respective companies and the software updates will be managed by Google as we saw in the Nexus Series. And with Android L around the corner the devices in the Android One platform will be one of the first to get the Android 5.0 update.
Google is concentrating on India is a huge way because it is going to become the 2nd largest market in the world in coming days and Google wants to get a major share of the growing market. By bringing affordable smartphones which will be getting the latest Android update Google is trying to capture the budget category by tying up with three companies.
There are many companies like Intex which are releasing budget devices having Android Kitkat OS and priced similarly and will be a major competition to Android One devices. Devices like Intex Aqua Style and Aqua Style Pro which run on Android Kitkat 4.4 but when the Android L update rolls out the devices in Android One platform will be the first to get the update and this gives them an edge over the other competitors.
Android One devices launched till date are being priced in the following manner between Rs. 6,299 to Rs. 6,499 – Spice Dream UNO in Flipkart for Rs. 6,299, Karbonn Sparkle in Snapdeal for Rs. 6,399 and Micromax Canvas A1 in Amazon for Rs. 6,499.
